Joshua Jackson Gives a Glimpse Into His “Magical” Home Life with Jodie Turner-Smith and Daughter Janie

For Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith, it's all about balance.
The couple—who tied the knot in 2019—has earned the distinction of being one of the coolest, most suave couples in Hollywood, thanks in large part to their sartorially-impressive red carpet appearances. However, Joshua argued that his wife is doing most the of heavy lifting.
"I would say I'm more married to cool than I am cool myself," Joshua, 44, exclusively told E! News March 20. "But I'll take the compliment."
Joshua—who stars in the Audible podcast Excessive, out March 23—revealed his relationship with Jodie is, dare we say, quite normal once the bright lights get packed away.
"The most surprising thing is that it's a lot more homey than it looks like from the outside," the Dr. Death star said. "It's very, very baby-oriented and family-oriented inside the house."
Jodie, 36, gave birth to daughter Janie, the couple's first child, in April 2020—and Joshua is soaking up every minute.
"It's pretty spectacular, honestly," the Dawson's Creek alum said of family life. "Mama does love a dress up and I don't mind getting dressed up and standing next to her. But this having a kid thing together is pretty magical."
Of course, Joshua still finds time to get out of the house and pursue his creative passions, as well. In addition to the upcoming Paramount+ series Fatal Attraction—based on the 1987 movie of the same name starring Michael Douglas and Glenn Close—he stars in Excessive as Victor, a charming Las Vegas bachelor who meets (and then ghosts) a woman named Paula, played by Chloe Fineman.
However, Joshua revealed that signing onto the project wasn't due to his love of the Sin City. Quite the opposite, really.
"Trust me, I'm not getting up on a high horse here. I've done plenty of stupid s--t," he joked about Vegas. "There's something about the casino thing. The whole point of the city is for people to lose money. It's hard for me to have a good time when I can just feel the ache of desperation in the air everywhere."
Luckily, he still found the podcast experience—his first ever—to be a creatively enriching one.
"I haven't played very many what I would consider over-the-top characters," Joshua said. "This guy is fairly over-the-top. Because you're not only telling the story with your voice and body, you're creating the whole world inside of these characters' voices. It's an opportunity to play. That's really what it felt like when I was in the recording studio. It was just playtime."
